There are carved pattern on the mat surface. When you step on the mat out of a shower, the grooves will guide and absorb most water, and the surface will dry right before your eyes.

There are experiments showing that the grooves help absorb 30% more water and reduce water overflow.

If there are stubborn stains on the bath mat, just use the sandpaper to clean and remove.

Please be noted that due to the porous surface, the diatomaceous earth mat is not suitable to absorb colored liquid, like dirty water, coffee or wine.

Air-dry

After using the bath mat, running water is enough to clean the mat.

Please put the mat in a well-ventilated place to air dry after use.

My bathroom has problems with the water from my shower leaking on to the floor, which means traditional rug style bath mats are always getting wet. This is different, any water that hits this seems to disappear, like a puddle drying up right before your eyes.

Their are two sides to this mat, a grooved side and a flat side. the directions didn''t specify which direction should be facing up, but the pictures on the listing show grooved side up. I tried this, but It wasn''t very pleasant to stand on because the mat will bend inwards creating a pressure/pinching feeling, so I flipped it over, so the flat side was facing up and it felt soooo much better. it didn''t feel like it was bending at all.

As soon as you step onto it after getting out of a shower you can feel it sucking the water off the bottom of my feet, it''s super weird to get an instantly dry food feeling after being in a shower. lifting my feet up and putting back down in the same place on the mat, I can not feel any moisture, which is awesome. any drops of water that fall off my body and touch the mat are instantly absorbed and quickly dry, its mildly entertaining to watch it in action.

its not perfect. the not slip mat provided to place under it seems like a perfect place to capture moisture, bacteria, hairs, etc. I plan on replacing these with several Clear plastic furniture bumpers. to allow airflow.

On another note the package mentioned that some dust may be on the mat from the manufacturing process, I personally never felt/seen any dust material. I was expecting it to feel fine like foot powder or something, but after checking the bottom of my feet the first time I used it, they were clean. I do wish this mat was a little bigger, but it''s bigger then others I was looking at and I can comfortable stand on it, but a little more room would help with the look of the bathroom. It did have a corner that had been smashed l, and quite frankly I’m not sure how because the packaging was a solid bubble all the way around it. So it must have occurred at the factory not in shipping. As you can see in the video it does absorb right before your eyes. One of my biggest Petpeieves is stepping out of the shower filling someone else and stepping in their wet foot prints or shower droppings. I’m a little concerned with all that water absorption hours it will hold up and for how long. If I had to pin down the material and what it’s similar to, the description says it’s stone (not exactly) it also says made with Absorbent Quick-Dry Diatom Mud. The latter of those is the most accurate… it almost reminds me of a really dense drywall. Granted it’s much more sturdy it’s just a comparison to get an idea of the texture. For nearly 50$ I really hope it holds up for a long time to come but I have my doubts. So far though so good. If I see it starts to become an issue I’ll update later. Lastly it’s nice and thin, the way our bathroom door opens cloth or memory foam mats often get stuck, moved, or caught, this one is a non issue. 3 people found this helpful Helpful

It talks about putting it a well-ventilated area after use -- really every use? I don''t yet. I just showered and stepped out on it. It did a good job of absorbing the water from my feet and the door. It appears to have dried fine without some form of airing it.

Sounds like staining is an easy problem to have (maybe they should make it look tie-dyed or black idk. I can''t imagine not being able to have my shoes on it! I mean, if I put in on the bathroom floor, I might walk into the bathroom with my shoes on. Sanding off spots instead of washing it? I''m not going to be able to find that little piece of sandpaper they sent and that just doesn''t make sense. I don''t want the dust from this floating around in the air.

At this point I''m not convinced of the practicality of this. If its features fit how you live, cool, but I''m expecting it to not be useful to me. Now if I fine it dries quickly without having to lean it against the wall .... I''ll come back and update. That is my biggest concern at this point because that isn''t going to happen. On the other hand I have another diatomaceous mat that is combined with rubber and its soft, doesn''t break, and it dries quickly. So maybe at least this one will dry quickly despite their directions.

3/25/2022 I''m back. I have this outside my shower door because my son tends to get the floor very wet. So far I have not had to do anything special to get it to dry. That could depend on your environment. I like that it absorbs the water off my feet. I still am not happy about the cleaning directions requiring sanding, but so far so good. Helpful
